Rochdale branch goes the extra mile Neil Baldwin We all know that IPA Members go the extra mile in support of each other but Rochdale Branch went 614.4 miles to deliver a certificate to Alan Ogden who has been a member since 1958 and had joined Rochdale Branch following the closure of Stockport.

Region 1 (Scotland) gets a new Publicity Officer I have recently been appointed the Regional Publicity Officer for Region 1. As such I am in the process of arranging meetings with Police Scotland Force Executive to positively develop our relationship with the force. I currently have a meeting with the Career Development Manager on 21st April at the Scottish Police College. Yours in Friendship Graeme Young

Frank Pearson who was a founding member of the Branch, and his wife Margaret, volunteered to

take and present the 50 year certificate to Alan whilst on holiday in the Shetland Isles. They plan to be back for his 60th certificate in 2018 or it could be a Branch trip! As Frank says, “The Shetland Isles are beautiful and the people so welcoming and friendly”

Memories of John Morgan The group photo was taken on an IPA friendship visit to the police in Mannheim, Germany. The group was mainly from the Birmingham City Police, as it was then, it was taken in Heidelberg, I think about the end of the 60’s. What I can say is the hospitality received from the Mannheim Police was outstanding. I am standing second row 6th from the right, next to the blonde. In front of me is (HBG) Billy Glastonberry and his wife Anne. Top left is Billy Briggs and his wife Christine. The second picture is of a banner given to us when we did an IPA visit to Benidorm. We were met by the Chief of Police from Benidorm, now that was a character and half? I remember with us was Mick Turner and George Murrey. (PC’s from E Div Birmingham City).
