Nottinghamshire Police were recently involved with a number of activities to show their support and promote Deaf Awareness week.

The events included: • A multi-agency partnership information event at Nottinghamshire Deaf Society designed to increase understanding of rights to access health and care services. To support this event, a video was showcased promoting the work of the Street Triage Team with British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation. • At the end of the week, we attended Mansfield Deaf Centre during their social evening to talk to the members. Local PCSO’s Craig Moore and Stevie Willets were accompanied by PCSO Laura Cooper, who conducts beat surgeries at the Nottingham Deaf Centre. • This month we said a fond farewell to Gloria Pullen, who has been a great supporter for Nottinghamshire Police over many years, giving hours of voluntary time to advise and assist us to improve our understanding and contact with the Deaf community.

Gloria is Deaf and has been involved in work between Nottinghamshire Police and our Deaf community for many years. She was thanked by all, including Chief Constable Chris Eyre who personally thanked her for all the hard work, dedication and support she has provided.
