Presentation of £880 cheque to crew of Scottish Charity Air Ambulance

Unfortunately the funicular railway to the Cairngorm Mountains is not running this year but we still drove to the car park and watched skiers and snowboarders making the most of the snow in the sunshine. The 360° views were amazing. Another first for us was a visit to the Speyside Distillery’s new Snug bar in Aviemore. A warm welcome was received and a wee dram was enjoyed along with some Bein Dubh Whisky Fudge. On Sunday night we enjoyed an excellent buffet dinner and thereafter adjourned to the function room for the entertainment and to catch up with everyone’s highlights of their day. Monday morning came around all too soon and we had to leave the Duke of Gordon and head home by plane, train or car. Over the weekend from the tombola, raffle and donations from some members who could not be with us, we raised £880 for the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance. An amazing amount, thank you. Until we meet again on Thursday, 30 January, 2020. Haste ye back.

David and I recognised David Kernohan’s 55 years as an IPA Member, as well as spending part of his 90th Birthday celebrations with us, by giving him a Glencairn Tasting Glass, engraved with the No. 1 (Scotland) Region logo and a miniature of IPA whisky. For the first time in our five years of ceilidh weekends, we were entertained by two of our guests. Greg Cunningham gave a fantastic rendition of Flower of Scotland. This was followed by a Runrig song, Previous Years, sung beautifully by Andy Wright. Another successful night filled with fun, laughter and friendship. Sunday was, as always, a day of relaxation. Several guests visited the Highland Wildlife Park, where Hamish, the one year old Polar Bear, is a big attraction. We were not disappointed. Although he is just about as big as his mother, he is still very much a youngster and kept us entertained with his antics at feeding time.
