German Police Cadets Online International travel may be impossible at the moment but that does not stop the IPA.

In January, Martin Turner welcomed a class of German Police Cadets to an online input on UK policing.

Section UK Lincoln Award Martin Turner , Section UK VP Professional The Section UK Lincoln Award is a bursary available for any Section UK member to use for personal or professional development.

UK Pen Pals Cathy has three Pen Pal requests from France and Germany, for youngsters aged between 15 and 17 years. French requests After a reminder in January, a veritable flurry of applications for support arrived in my inbox from across Section UK. A selection of members have been awarded support for courses ranging from Dutch language and Cyber Crime online courses, to Exercise qualifications in the UK and professional training in Germany and Canada. Remember that any member can apply for the award up until 30th June 2021. Visit the Members Area online to find out more. In 2020 the Lincoln Award went to Tom Atkins, of Region 6, who will use the award to attend an International Policing course in The Hague, once travel restrictions are relaxed.

Hopefully you will have seen the news article online towards the end of 2020 explaining how to apply for support from the Lincoln Award. Do visit the website or contact the office or myself if unsure. The award is up to £1000 and can fund a course, seminar or programme that helps you and the IPA develop. Payment of the bursary is on condition of an article for Police World, so look out for members’ stories over the next few editions.
