Home is where you pitch it Shrewsbury Rally This was another well attended Rally at Shrewsbury run by Dave & Mary Hardy. It had been planned to coincide with the Annual Shrewsbury Flower Festival. During the day, we enjoyed the colourful spectacle of the Flower Frestival, then in the evenings, we gathered in the Pavilion for entertainment, food and fireworks. We were pleased to welcome more new members, Ceri & Maddy Jones, to the Group. Belford Rally A consideration in every caravanner’s mind when venturing out is, of course, the weather. This is especially true at the start and at the end of the Season. Any worries were unfounded for our Group’s Rally at Belford in Northumberland during October, because it was blue skies all the way. Members of the Group enjoyed a tour of Bamburgh Castle and a boat trip on the River Tweed and estuary at Berwick. During the boat trip, our combined policing skills were put into practice during an offshore rescue. We had to go to the aid of another craft that had broken down. We towed it back into the river mouth before the RNLI inshore team took over.

The Caravan & Camping SIG’s busy year With five rallies to choose from, the Section UK campers and caravanners had plenty to choose from. AGM Rally

Members of the IPA C&C Group held their Annual General Meeting at Stratford-Upon-Avon Racecourse Caravan site. We welcomed a new Chair, Barbara Marchant, after Mike Paxton stood down. There was a social activity to enjoy each evening, and members were able to make the most of the beautiful area during the day. Weeting Steam Rally This was our Group’s second outing to Weeting in East Anglia, where the village hosts an annual steam rally and country show each July. During the three-day event, we enjoyed displays of lovingly restored traction engines, classic cars, motorcycles and lorries, as well as demonstrations by working dogs and horses. We were also able to browse the many stalls and enjoy refreshments in the restaurant and beer tents. Some of us even topped off our Rally with a helicopter ride. Bateman’s Brewery Rally What could possibly go wrong with a caravan rally at a brewery? In the event, nothing went wrong, in fact, the staff described our group as the best rally goers ever. Bateman’s is an independent brewery, founded in 1874, in the village of Wainfleet in Lincolnshire and boasts a 20-pitch campsite. Group members explored the local area each day. Then we gathered together each evening, when Danny and Joy Kaye provided entertainment with a variety of games, quizzes and Murray mints. We were pleased to welcome new members, Dave & Tracy Seavers and Geri & David Dawson to the Group.
