Diary dates

FROM DUMYAT TO MONT BLANC; BEING ALIVE WITH MOUNTAINS , is not a guide book. It is simply and unashamedly an account of my mountaineering life, penned in a story telling fashion, as I meander

through and over huge tracts of Scotland and beyond. Experiences such as, getting shot at, performing a minor operation on myself and suffering a hallucination, and so much more. I touch on motivation and how my experiences enhanced my confidence. I look at a few Gaelic hills and place names, and muse over the English translations. A smattering of geology will emerge. What lies below; in so many ways determines what lies above. I touch on Transhumance settlements and some of the wildlife it was my privilege to encounter. Accompany me when I ascend Mont Blanc, and smile as I reveal the secrets of mountain rescue training and more. I was, and still am, a dedicated amateur, just like the vast majority who venture out most weekends. The more time I shared with the rivers, glens and peaks, the more I appreciated simply being amongst them, watching and listening. Join me in a journey that changed my life.
