Poland: motorcyclists and police officers together Police traffic officers from Wodzislaw (Slaskie region) took part in a road safety initiative recently. The initiative was directed at car drivers, encouraging them to “Look in the mirrors – motorcyclists are everywhere”. Officers stopped vehicles, and motorcyclists appealed to drivers about paying more attention on the roads. Motorcyclists offered some gifts for drivers who supported the action. Motorcycle numbers are growing every year in Poland, but safety remains a concern. Riders complain that other vehicle drivers do not look too often in mirrors, which can of course spell danger for the two-wheel drivers. The main aim of this action was raising awareness, leading to better understanding, better mutual respect and to better safety on the roads.
