Devon Branch Christmas lunch 2023 Una Blundell , Devon Branch Secretary Devon Branch held a lovely Christmas lunch at the Mary Tavy Inn near Tavistock. Our Branch Chairman Keith Howard was pleased to introduce and welcome our newest recruit; Mike Bevan & his wife Rita from North Devon NARPO. Mike was surprised to meet up with colleagues from 20 years ago, and recall some tales from the past. There was also a special welcome for VP Colin Hutt & his wife Helena, along with some friends from Cornwall Branch. One big happy family enjoying the festivities!

Blackpool and North Lancashire Branch Christmas lunch 2023 On Sunday 10 December 2023 Blackpool and North Lancashire Branch held our annual Christmas lunch at the Royal Oak in Garstang, when we were joined by the National & 3 Regional Treasurer, Bill Lloyd, his wife Linda and Bill’s mother May.

Anyone for a Music SIG? Seb Valentine , Surrey Branch I love music, and I was a professional opera singer before I became a police officer. Music was an important stress and emotional release for me, at times when work has been particularly tough. Whether it’s playing the piano (badly) or listening to Beethoven, it transports me somewhere nothing else can touch me. I recently went to a concert by the Danish Police Ladies Choir in London, organised by the IPA. It was so lovely to listen to them, meet them and meet some fellow IPA members in the pub afterwards. I can’t think of a better cultural exchange than hearing traditional folk tunes sung by a native choir. There is such a strong link between the language of a country, its temperament, and its folk music. If, like me, you love listening to music, playing music, or both, and would like to do so with other IPA members, please let VP Social, Karen Duckworth know KarenDuckworthIPA@outlook.com . If there are enough people, then we can form a SIG and talk about how we would like to share our love of music. I mentioned Beethoven, but this group will be for people who love any genre of music, and our activities will be shaped by what the members want.
