Surrey Branch Christmas Lunch David King , Surrey Branch Secretary Surrey Branch held their Christmas Lunch at the Wotton Hatch Pub and Restaurant, at Wotton, near Dorking, Surrey. This was the fourth occasion that the Branch have held its Christmas Lunch at this establishment, and we were not disappointed. A lovely meal was provided, and it was nice to meet up with old and new colleagues. The Branch Secretary, David King, was the organiser and before the meal, he and our Branch Chairman, Martyn Linton, presented Member certificates to two of our loyal members. Martin Keel was presented with his 30-year certificate and David Forder, was presented with his 60-year certificate (Wow - 60 years as a member of the IPA). David Forder: David joined Surrey Constabulary in 1963, he was on traffic between 65 and 68. He then transferred to the Metropolitan Police in 1968. In the IPA, he served on NSY committee for 25 years, as social secretary, also as Branch & Region Chairman for a couple of years. He was London Reception officer (LRO) for about 15 years, looking after officers from around the world, booking tours of the crime museum, command and control etc.

3 Region Friendship Weekend 2023 David Winnard , Vice Chairman, Blackpool and North Lancashire Branch The 3 Region Annual Friendship Weekend was hosted by Blackpool and North Lancashire Branch, in November 2023. The venue was The Royal Kings Arms Hotel, in Lancaster City Centre, which has hosted famous

Saturday morning saw 37 members and wives given a tour of Lancaster Castle, which was only a short distance from the hotel. After a brilliant Castle tour, which included a visit to the Courts, members could visit other locations of interest on foot in the City Centre, or take a short ride to Williamsons Park or Morecambe, followed by the early evening “Light Up Lancaster” event. The Gala Dinner on Saturday, commenced with a Welcome Drink and Canapes. During the dinner, we enjoyed an excellent female vocalist, followed by a Raffle to raise money for the Blue Light Charity, and dancing followed until midnight. A surprise of the evening was when 3 Region Secretary Spike Elliott, presented Chairman Jack with his 30 years Membership Certificate.

Attendance from across Section UK, was such that the event took over the whole hotel. Friday saw members arriving early enough to visit the nearby Police Museum. During the evening there was time to meet up with friends and enjoy a casual meal, accompanied by a guitarist. This was followed by our annual quiz, set by the Chairman, and to the surprise of the hosts, they retained the shield.
