Mayflower 400 Plymouth 7 Region will host a Friendship Week in Plymouth as one of the 2020 iconic events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the IPA. They will also celebrate the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower to America. 13th to 20th September, 2020.
Two coach tours will run on both the Monday and Friday: the Devon tour and the Cornwall tour. The tour to Devon will include visiting Dartmouth for a walk with the Town Crier in the steps of the Pilgrim Fathers. Then onto visit the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, past the infamous Dartmoor prison with afternoon tea at the Two Bridges hotel in the heart of Dartmoor. The tour to Cornwall will start with a look around the historic Charlestown with its unspoilt old harbour and onto spend the rest of the day at the Eden Project where one can explore the largest rainforest in captivity, see stunning plants and exhibitions.
Two evenings of entertainment will take place on the Thursday and Saturday. Thursday there will be an IPA Police & Military BBQ and entertainment, including the Royal Marines. At a Services base in Plymouth. Saturday there will be a Gala 3 course dinner with live entertainment including from a Police Band in the Crowne Plaza hotel, Plymouth
Tuesday to Thursday enjoy festivities in Plymouth especially the Mayflower ceremony and entertainment in and around the Hoe and harbour
Accommodation The IPA have secured a special rate with the Crowne Plaza hotel. The hotel offers excellent facilities with fantastic views over the harbour and Plymouth Sound. It is adjacent to the Hoe where there will be many events throughout the week. Note: Due to the high demand for accommodation in Plymouth during the week from tourists, businesses, the university and others, the prices for accommodation are generally higher than normal.
