The Story of the Bear Roy Edwards , Leicestershire Branch & Motorcycle SIG

Jenny Perry and Brian Collins with the Bear

It’s possible you have seen this little chap on one or two Facebook posts and wondered what it’s all about. There is a children’s hospice in Loughborough called Rainbows, which Chris and I have supported for several years. So I thought it would be nice if one day a group of us could visit the children with our bikes. I contacted Jenny Perry at the hospice and they will be delighted to do this when COVID is out of the way. In the meantime Chairman Paul Firth suggested we purchase a COPS bear dressed as an officer to donate to the hospice. Unfortunately under hospice’s own COVID regs it is not possible for them to accept the bear into the house. So Brian Collins and I took a trip over to meet Jenny for a photo opportunity, donate the bear and invite the children to name him. We would then take him on our trips, sending the children photos of his adventures with us. His first ride out was with Brian Collins, Graham Buxton, Paul Firth and their respective wives in Wales. Rainbows have a charity shop in Melton so if you have any clothing etc, you would like to donate, please let me have them and I will deliver to them.

Northamptonshire Police supports the Thin Blue Line Northamptonshire Police have chosen to support the same charity as IPA Section UK this year. Their Chief Constable, Nick Adderley, was recently spotted on patrol, sporting one of TBL’s charity patches on his body armour. Thin Blue Line supports serving officers though mental health difficulties. If you would like to join CC Adderly in wearing one of their patches; they can be purchased through our staff at Arthur Troop House.
