Paris 2024 Olympics Role By Andy Amos Paris 2024, the thirty third Olympics and my fourth (look out Sir Steve Regrave). I was working with a fantastic team assisting American media NBC get their sports desk crews around Paris and all Olympic venues. We were accommodated throughout in the delightful town of Roissy en France on the outskirts near Charles de Gaulle Airport. The town is infamous for and has a memorial to the 25th July 2000 Concorde crash.

Pre Olympics the crews were out capturing the flavour of France, the restaurants, the style and the people. This additional filming, or ‘B roll’ would get sent back to the States as fill in TV during the games. Once the Games commenced it was full on coverage of events and news stories surrounding them. Fantastic stadiums like the Stade de France were showcased, while other areas were adapted in prime locations, for example the beach volleyball. Obviously, security was a major factor for the event with mutual aid being provided to the French from all over the world. The French have their own selection of public protection in the forms of Gendarmerie, National Police, CRS Police, Municipal Police and Campagnie d’intervention, who were all in full display. This was another wonderful opportunity to be involved in a world class event that ultimately showcased France and gave the world a feel good opportunity to support their participants.
