IPAMeet with Europol InMay, RobOut,member of the International Commission for External Relations (ERC), andKeesSal, International Professional Commission (IPC) Chair, hadameetingat theEuropol Headquarterswith Jelmer Visser, Headof theDutchdeskof Europol. They discussed theorganisation of the IPAand its strategy of achievingmorebalancebetween leisureand professional activities. Amongst other topics surveyedwas thepossibilities of improved cooperation between IPAandEuropol. They alsodiscussed IBZGimbornand the possibilities for Europol toorganiseawareness training regarding the roleand structureof Europol inandoutsideof Europe. Europol is theEuropeanUnion’s lawenforcement agency andhandles criminal intelligence. Theheadquarters of Europol is located in TheHague, theNetherlands. Guillaumewas givena freehand to realisehis ideas. He said, “Regarding the way I came to compose the jazz version, I startedby learning the classical versionby heart inorder tohave theharmonic structureof thepiece inmy head. I thenput swing into the rhythmandaccelerated the tempo, whilegiving free reign tomy imagination. Then, once themain ideas of thepiecewere there, I practiced the same version several times inorder togain clarity and confidence in the sequenceof themusic.
