In the event the kilt was duly delivered to France four weeks later, and Philippe confesses to being quite emotional and very proud to be able to wear the IPA Tartan. As for the accuracy of the measurements - you will see from the photograph that the kilt fits Philippe perfectly. While in Scotland, Philippe and Sylviane also enjoyed time in Edinburgh in the company of John O'Lone and Rod. As well as being interested in Scottish history, Phillippe is an expert on the WW1 and WW2 battles in Belgium and Northern France. Albeit he lives in France, his home is only 15 kilometres from Ypres. Philippe has intimated that he would be very happy to escort members around the battlefields and war graves. Deneubourg, from Section France, and his partner Sylviane visited the IPA House near St Andrews in May. Philippe, who is passionate about Scottish history and all things Scottish, explained to Pauline and me that he was determined to go home with a full dress kilt outfit. During his short visit he was able to fulfil most of his ambition. With the assistance of local member Rod McNeill, he did go home with an Argyll jacket and waistcoat, sporran, kilt socks and brogues. The kilt itself was a different matter. Philippe wanted a kilt in the IPA Tartan, and that is not something that can be bought ‘off the shelf’. The rights to the IPA Tartan are owned by 1 Region (Scotland) and all matters concerning the tartan are overseen by Jim Nisbet from the 1 Region Committee. Dusty’s Milestone Plymouth branch presented a 50 Year

Northants Independence A Northamptonshire branch meeting was held at a member’s house in July, attended by 30 guests. The day was hosted by Sue Thompson and Chris Pitt. As the date fell on ‘American Independence Day’ the branch was presented with the perfect opportunity for a themed day. Alexander Thompson commented, “Great weather, food and drink made it a fantastic day.”

On Par for Section UK IPA member Dave Punshon and police officer Paul Beecher took part in a De Vere Hotel Golf Competition in June, 2014. De Vere Hotels offered a place to the IPA for a representative to play at the tournament that took place in Reading - Dave was selected. Next year’s Section UK National Council Meeting, hosted by 9 Region, will take place at the De Vere Hotel - Theobalds Park, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. Dave said, “We were teamed up with Andrew and Darren who were De Vere staff.
