Guests at the Union Jack Club, London
International Gathering at the Union Jack Club Thirty members from Section USA, Region 29, led by Gillian and Richard Nevarel, Secretary General of Section USA, twenty members from Section UK, 6 Region, and May-Britt Renaldo, President of Section Sweden, met at the Union Jack Club in London for dinner. During the evening a number of raffle tickets were sold for the Section UK Caravan and Camping Group's prize draw. The prize on offer is a quilt created by IPA member Anne Pursey. The raffle is in aid of Police Treatment Centres in the UK. Steve Connor, Immediate Past President and member of 6 Region said, “If a member from Section USA wins the quilt, due to its size, it will need to be hand delivered to Sacramento - any volunteers?” The Union Jack Club (UJC) is a private members’ club for serving and ex-serving military personnel. Emergency Services and the Civil Service may also use the club as Temporary Honorary Members. IPA members can stay at the UJC at a lower rate than Police Officers and 2012 prices are being held for 2013. Visit: www.ipa-uk.org/Members-Only-Offers#The Union Jack Club

has changed over the years. From the original granite floors downstairs to the wall tapestries in the bedrooms - the decor all dates back to the 17th Century. Apparently the Wrights never threw anything away. Some of group then ventured out into the gardens before retiring for tea and cakes at the Buttery Cafe. Thank you to John and Isobel Davenport for organising this very enjoyable branch visit. Sean Murphy , Derbyshire branch In the fully equipped kitchen - and not a socket in sight Links to NACP The IPA and the National Association of Chaplains to the Police (NACP) have arranged reciprocal links to each others websites. Police chaplains recognise that much of police work, by its very nature, is stressful and dehumanising. The Chaplains describe themselves as 'people of faith, which informs what they do'. They only act in a religious way if appropriate. They understand that everybody is a complete person – body mind & spirit - and care for them in this holistic way. They also care for the police organisation, acting as critical friends within the decision making processes. In all this, the service chaplains offer is confidential.
